On June 22, CAMBA’s Director of Small Business Services, Isaac Roldan, gave a presentation on mobile marketing to nearly 80 people at the Starting and Growing Your Business with SBA PRIME Assistance event. This event, which took place at the Ted Weiss Federal Building, provided attendees with a chance to network, watch several presentations by business professionals and meet with business advisers.
NYC’s Department of Small Business Administration helps entrepreneurs create and cultivate their own small businesses through efforts like SBA’s Program for Investments in Micro-Entrepreneurs (PRIME). Through PRIME, CAMBA directs grants toward low-income entrepreneurs who lack sufficient education and training to start their own businesses.
CAMBA also partners with SBA PRIME to promote economic vitality through specialized services like mobile marketing, which are catered to meet the needs of aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in New York City. The topic of mobile marketing references the importance of using mobile technology to promote and support business ventures in the age of technology. According to Roldan, “It is important that small business owners in New York City be aware of technology tools that can be used in order to increase revenues, reduce expenses and improve business operations.”
Roldan expressed that, “The best part about giving the presentation was the response from the audience.” He said it was a confirmation of CAMBA and SBA’s important work. Roldan was able to see first-hand how many aspiring small business owners “are unaware of the technology tools available to them,” and he stated that “[CAMBA’s] ability to train entrepreneurs on a one-on-one basis allows us to meet their very specific challenges on a daily basis.”
The event also included a presentation on “Bookkeeping Strategies for Stress-Free Tax Filing,” by Tammy Wills from Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union, one on “M/WBE Certification for Government Contracting,” by Jose Taveras from New York Women’s Chamber of Commerce along with a presentation on Financial Empowerment for Small Business Owners by Brianna Brandon from TruFund.
